November 7 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
£55.00
This one-day practical course will offer a beginner-friendly introduction to hedgelaying ‘Midlands-style’ using hand tools. You’ll learn everything from preparing a hedge for laying, to ‘pleaching’ stems, building stems into stakes and finally weaving binders.
Traditional hedgelaying is one of the many ways we can support nature recovery. It creates a dense, long-lasting habitat that offers birds safe nesting sites and significantly reduces predation risks. Hedges also establish vital, continuous wildlife corridors that allow small mammals, amphibians, and reptiles to travel securely between fragmented landscapes. Additionally, the rejuvenated plants boost biodiversity by providing a year-round food source of nectar, berries, and insects for pollinators, birds, and bats.
All tools and PPE required to safely participate in this course will be provided. You are also welcome to bring your own equipment if it’s suitable for the tasks.
- Please bring your own lunch, snacks and plenty of water.
- Wear warm and waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear.
Meet at The Fold car park for a prompt start at 10am. We will finish at 4pm.
There are only 8 places available to ensure you receive excellent support during this course. Please book soon to avoid disappointment.
