About Dietitians
Dietitians are qualified health professionals who assess, diagnose and treat dietary and nutritional problems at an individual and wider public health level, working with both healthy and sick people.
They have the only legally recognised graduate qualification in nutrition and dietetics that is registered with the Healthcare Professions Council (HCPC) which is a national regulatory body that ensures rigorously maintained standards of training, professional skills, behaviour and client safety are kept up to date.
Dietitians are clinically trained to work with a range of diet related conditions such as: celiac disease, Diabetes, high cholesterol or blood pressure, IBS, reflux, constipation, eating disorders, fussy eating , weight management and many more and they aim to use the most up to date scientific evidence and clinical guidelines to devise individualised dietary interventions.
What to expect during a private Dietetic consultation:
Sessions can take up to 1hr depending on the diet related condition. During a dietetic assessment you will be asked a range of nutrition related questions to help the dietitian understand what is influencing your condition. This information is then discussed and dietary recommendations, psycho education and nutrition goals are agreed.
