Katy is one half of Studio 4, situated in the rear courtyard at The Fold. Katy has a background in textiles and textile art and can be found experimenting with handmade textile paper making and free motion embroidery. She also enjoys designing and making a varied range of whimsical, boho and eco accessories for children, family and home.
Inspired by nature, her three children and the desire to encourage a creative an imaginative life whilst maintaining an ethos for sustainability Katy offers a colourful selection of handmade items including fabric crowns, capes, wands, artworks and more.
Katy offers workshops in a variety of these techniques where you can enjoy exploring the skills involved and the organic nature of work produced, leaving with a finished sewn item or piece of artwork for your home. See below for her sessions which run regularly on a monthly basis
Silk paper Making
A creative session introducing you to the therapeutic world of natural fibre paper making. You’ll create your own fibre papers embedded with textiles and real flowers and you’ll also be shown how to embellish your papers using free motion embroidery. All materials and equipment provided, no experience necessary.

Family/kids textile and silk fibre paper making workshop (without free motion embroidery element).
Free Motion Embroidery Picture
Join me for a fun workshop where you’ll be introduced to the addictive practice of free motion sewing – ‘drawing with thread’. In this workshop you’ll create a picture using the sewing machine to build up layers of fabric and stitches. No previous experience necessary. All materials and equipment included.
Kantha Wall Hanging
Join me for a fun, relaxed slow sew session. You’ll be provided with an army of materials, fabrics & textiles needed to create your own textured wall hanging. This is a very relaxing workshop based on the kantha quilts which were traditionally handmade across India – you’ll be shown how to use the basis of kantha stitching to produce your own piece of art! All materials and equipment are provided. No experience necessary.
Sewing Workshops for Kids
A variety of themed sewing workshops are available for children. These can be booked on request if not advertised with a set date. Suitable for small groups/individuals and birthday party bookings. Age 8+.
When she’s not in her studio making Katy regularly exhibits at craft and market events.
