We have had a busy winter at The Fold with a big project to spruce up our Market Barn and make it ready to host more events. With generous funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, we have removed old asbestos cladding and replaced it with smart new steel cladding. We hope you’ll agree that it looks much nicer, and better for the environment too!
As part of the project, we are re-naming the space The Hop Barn. The Fold was a hop farm for many years, and the Barn is so tall because it was built to accommodate the very long hop poles on their journey to the hop kiln. By changing the name from The Market Barn to The Hop Barn, we honour these traditions as we move forward into new and exciting purposes for the space.
The Hop Barn will remain the location for our monthly Artisan Markets, held on the first Sunday of every month. In addition, we have now added Secondhand Saturdays on the 3rd Saturday of each month.
Outside of these regular events, the Hop Barn is for hire and suitable for a variety of events. We’ve already had enquiries about weddings, retreats, firewalks, music, and a sustainability fair. The Fold is a unique site to host such events, with free parking, space for camping and delicious catering from our café. Get in touch to find out more!
Thanks again to the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and the good folk at The Malvern Hills District Council for making this refurbishment possible.
