We are really proud to host one stop on the UK tour of ‘Indian Summer Music’!
For over 25 years, celebrated sibling duo Awantika and Akash Dubey have performed together across India and internationally, gracing prestigious festivals in Taiwan, Japan, and throughout Europe. Known for their deep musicality and seamless harmony, they now bring their artistry to Bransford for a special evening of Indian music.
They will be performing at The Fold on Saturday 16 August from 7-9pm. Tickets available here.
Awantika is married to Will Tooby, Founding Director of The Fold, who will also be joining his wife and Akash on stage, playing sitar and harmonium.
During the first half of the evening, you will be immersed in the meditative beauty of Hindustani classical ragas, performed with profound skill and sensitivity. The second half will be a moving blend of semi-classical music, ghazals, and devotional bhajans — uplifting melodies for hearts of all ages and backgrounds.
There will also be an authentic Indian meal available before the show for those who have pre-booked.
Awantika says “I am so excited to welcome my brother to The Fold and share an evening of our classic Indian music with the people of Worcestershire! We have played together in many different countries, but this tour is the first time we are together in the UK.”
Born in the village of Khajuraho India, Awantika began singing at the age of 2 and performed her first concert when she was 4 years old. Akash was not far behind, being introduced to the tabla aged 2. They both trained with a great variety of teachers and began winning competitions before they were teenagers. Awantika also broadened her skills and became accomplished in Indian classical dance.
