Volunteering opportunities

"Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does." ~ William James

Here at the Fold we have valuable volunteering opportunities for self-starting individuals wanting to give something and be of service. Most of these are day placements for one or more days each week but a limited number of ‘live-in’ places are also available. Please see below for all the opportunities available.

Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.”

Fold Communications

Our Government and local council have declared a Climate Emergency but what has changed? What are they doing? What are we all doing? What are you doing?

How can we co-create real and lasting change?

  • Volunteer wanted to support and work with our Communications and Events manager and others in the team to enable the writing and design of help and advice tips, fact sheets and more towards sustainable low carbon lives.

“Our generation has the ability and the responsibility to make our ever-more connected world a more hopeful, stable and peaceful place.” — Natalie Portman

 Fold Events

Join the Fold events team and help organise and run our fabulous programme of cultural events. Activities range from deciding which events to run, distributing leaflets, selling tickets, set up on the night including decorations, running the door and putting the site back to bed.

Care Farm participants are adults and young people with a range of support needs, such as a learning disability, mental health issues, acquired brain injury and adults living with Dementia. Volunteers work with the Care Farm Manager to enable participants to engage in activities that include all aspects of growing organic vegetables, fruits and herbs, cooking and preserving produce, crafts using natural materials and nature walks.

“Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth.” — Muhammad Ali

  • We also run children’s ‘farm and nature play’ activities during the school holiday periods and we are hoping to begin offering children activities during term time soon. There are volunteer opportunities to assist in helping prepare and deliver our children’s activities too.
  • As this volunteer role will involve working with children and vulnerable adults, we will ask all volunteers to have a DBS check (we can cover the cost of this and provide all the necessary forms) and to also provide 2 references.
  • Project based volunteer opportunities on the care farm include helping establish as raised bed area for participants with limited mobility and helping to sort and organise our woodwork workshop to make it more accessible for care farm participants
