Featuring the work of Gilles Petit and Morgan Davies – See also the notes regards Indian Classical Music from Indian Traditional Kathak Dance and Classical Vocal Concert on 19th Oct
Gilles is one of a few extraordinary artists who have equally command of singing, body movements and playing a wide range of instruments. And not only expertise in western but also in Indian instruments. Samarpan means Devotion which reflects Gilles work perfectly. His devotion towards music and re-discovering the ancient voice of acoustic raga singers makes him a unique performer and voice coach based on the Indian Classical Raga system. Having experience of theatre at early age Gilles learned to achieve full expression in singing. Gilles try to bring intense emotion like passion, love, joy, sorrow etc. through the pure sound. He sometimes combines the words which have no meaning in pattern but make a deep sense when uttered in that atmosphere.
Samarpan will consist of many extraordinary compositions and a collaboration with Morgan Davies the accomplished sarangi playing who is also a composer, ethnomusicologist, researcher and performer of bowed and plucked stringed instruments from around the world. The sarangi is one of the most heartfelt instrument of India and this concert promises to take you to another level.
