The Fold Farm provides food for our café and farm shop, and maintains our connection with the earth. It is set up for production, care provision and training in sound ecological husbandry of vegetables, herbs, honey and fruits.
The farm’s produce goes directly into the Café, our Farm Shop and the local community via our Monthly Markets
The Farm, which is supported by dedicated volunteers, also runs as a Care Farm providing meaningful work for people with particular needs in a safe, supported environment. Participants develop confidence, skills and independence whilst working with the team.
We intend to continue this work as we increase the size and capacity of the farm (another field is currently being prepared for production, and we plan to recruit a second farmer soon).
Farm activities include:
Vegetable growing; including seed sowing, potting on, planting out, compost making, watering, weeding, harvesting, pest management and rotation planning. Fruit and cut flower growing; including pruning, pest and disease management, harvesting and bunching flowers. Plant merchandising, pricing and display. Bee keeping.
The main care farm area is visible from the nature trail at the bottom of the track down from the car park. Feel free to have a look over the gate, and talk to us if you see us!
