Shiatsu is a form of bodywork developed in Japan from a synthesis of traditional Chinese massage and western physiotherapy.
It literally means finger pressure and is a form of massage that uses pressure from hands, arms and feet to assist in re-balancing any disharmony in the body.
The treatment takes an individual's emotional and physical state into account.
It is non-invasive and so can work side by side with other more conventional methods of medicine whilst supporting the body's own healing abilities.
A Shiatsu session lasts an hour and takes place on a mat on the floor. You should come wearing loose, comfy clothes and trousers.
Miranda trained at the European School of Shiatsu and Movement for three years and qualified as a practitioner in 2001. Combined with Yoga training, treatments are diverse and offer something for every individual.
Personal experience with breast cancer in 1998 opened the doors to healing and health. Shiatsu played an essential part in dealing with the side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy and aided in looking at the underlying causes, as well as resolving issues linked to the disease. As a result, Miranda is happy to offer shiatsu to people dealing with cancer.
In London, researched and worked with drug and alcohol abuse and found remarkable results in rehabilitation and helping with depression and anxiety.
Shiatsu and yoga assisted in easy and healthy births of two daughters. Working with mothers, through the National Childbirth Trust has proved Shiatsu to be very nurturing to both mother and baby in pregnancy, birth and afterwards.
