Why volunteer?

Here are some reasons which may help you to make up your mind about the value of becoming a volunteer. Volunteering is good for you! It:

  • provides social contact which can help to reduce stress and make you feel healthier.
  • can help you gain professional experience.
  • brings people together from diverse backgrounds to work towards a common goal, experiencing camaraderie and teamwork.
  • helps promote personal growth and self esteem, and provides an opportunity to learn a lot about yourself and others.
  • is a chance to ‘give back’ to your local community.

Above all, by volunteering you can make a difference, to yourself and others.

Why Volunteer at The Fold?

The Fold is a Community Interest Company. This means we work for the benefit of the local community and any financial gain we make, after paying for staff and other costs, goes directly back into the organisation so that we can support more community-based projects. However, we cannot gauge the ‘gain’ or ‘profit’ which is achieved from volunteering, which is probably greater than the satisfaction of making money.

Our mission at The Fold is to become a living example of a truly sustainable organisation.

As you can see from our website we have an onsite Café, a Care Farm and garden, a range of studios and shops, and The Fold Natural Therapy Centre too. All these areas from time to time require help, even if it’s just once a year at one of our festivals.
