Featuring Mumbo-Jumbo, Paul Cowley and Dave Reeves – The Wooden Horse of Doctor Troy.
Mumbo-Jumbo takes four highly experienced blues, jazz and roots musicians, all strong vocalists in their own right, throws them together in a broadly acoustic format and lets them deliver what they are best at - live music performance.
Taking elements from blues, bluegrass, rockabilly, country and their own Brit folk heritage they deliver an original and entertaining brand of music they clearly enjoy just as much as the audience. Now featuring top blues guitarist Tommy Allen along with Oliver Carpenter, Chris Lomas and Abby Brant, the band apply their combined 115 years of performance and 5,500 gigs across the world to entertain anyone with ears.
Organisers of our annual 'Blues at The Fold' Festival, these four top Midlands blues musicians will fill your ears with pleasure and the venue with instruments.
Mumbo-Jumbo are also bringing along top blues singer songwriter Paul Cowley and the inimitable festival compere and performance poet Dave Reeves - the Wooden Horse of Dr Troy for this very special night.
University of Worcester ‘Green Graphic Design’ students have been working on a sustainable graphics project in conjunction with the Fold’s staff over the last 5 months. This preview afternoon will now enable some of the work from this project to be displayed to the public for the first time. The project brief asked the students to design and create a combination of information graphic displays and wayfinding signage for use in and around the Fold. Although completed to working prototype level only, many of these designs and ideas use sustainable design considerations utilising re-used, post consumer and recycled materials.
The students involved have now completed their studies into sustainable graphic design techniques but some hope to take these into their real-life practices after graduation in summer 2010. With many larger companies now asking designers to create solutions using recycled paper, card and vegetable-based inks, these students will hopefully now have a working advantage. The Green Graphic design studies undertaken at the University of Worcester, are one of only a handful of such courses presently running at undergraduate level in the UK.
The student work will be in place until Friday 12th March.
